300 apartments proposed for Cherry Hill site

A 2-year-old agreement that preserved Woodcrest Country Club could put a new neighborhood next to another golf course.

The township’s planning board will consider a proposal to put 300 apartments in a redevelopment area across from Merchantville Country Club.

The complex of two-, three- and four-story buildings would rise on 20 acres between Hampton Road and Cuthbert Boulevard, according to a draft plan prepared by a township consultant.

The area now is dominated by aging commercial buildings, some of them vacant and dilapidated. But the property also has wooded areas and backs up to a residential neighborhood, Still Park.
