$44M project gets final site approval in Evesham

Evesham Township officials recently gave a $44 million redevelopment project the green light to move forward.

The project, called Barclay Chase at Marlton, is set for 880 Route 70 East and Evesboro-Medford Road, along what was formerly known as the Aristone Tract.

The plans call for a multibuilding apartment complex with 264 apartments and a mixed-use building with 6,000 square feet of retail space.

“It is a 264-unit project in seven buildings,” said Evesham Township Director of Community Development Nancy Jamanow. “There is 6,000 square feet of commercial space included with it. … They did get final approval from the planning board and at this point, we have to wait for them to get all of their outside agency approvals, which includes the Department of Environmental Protection, state Department of Transportation and the Burlington County approvals.

The apartment complex will form a U-shape around the Public Works complex, with plans calling for multiple three- to four-story buildings, plus a clubhouse and a pool. The community will also feature two small parks for passive recreation. The buildings are designed in “traditional architectural character” consistent with the rest of the town and redevelopment plans adopted by council, according to the developer.
