Burlington County plans to demolish 5 properties, from summer cabins to chicken coops

Burlington County plans to demolish structures on five properties, including old summer cottages in Eastampton and two large chicken coops on a preserved Westampton farm.

The Burlington County Board of Freeholders will vote Wednesday to award a $172,500 environmental consulting and construction management contract to T&M Associates, of Middletown, Monmouth County, with the goal of demolishing structures in Eastampton, Florence and Westampton.

The funding follows a special request from U.S. Sens. Robert Menendez and Cory Booker, both Democrats, and the other members of the state’s bipartisan congressional delegation, who wrote to federal officials in May urging them to include the Garden State in the funding pool.

The engineering firm will create a design for demolition, complete an environmental assessment of asbestos within the structures, and prepare bid packages for demolition and any necessary abatement.
