Camden office building could come down

A developer wants to demolish a vacant and vandalized office building next to the PATCO Hi-Speedline’s Ferry Avenue station.

A four-story mixed-use structure would replace the former Ferry Plaza building off Davis Street near Ferry Avenue, according to an affiliate of The Michaels Organization, a Mount Laurel-based housing provider.

The planned building would have 53 apartments on the upper floors and commercial space on the ground floor, according to information submitted to the city’s planning board. Some units in the mixed-income complex would be affordable housing, while others would be market rate.

Street-level tenants could include a pharmacy and a pediatric/medical daycare center, according to the company’s application for preliminary site plan approval.
