Cooper University Health Care announced Thursday it has signed a letter of intent to acquire three hospitals that are part of the Trinity Health system in New Jersey.
The Camden-based system’s acquisition includes Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, Lourdes Medical Center in Burlington and St. Francis Medical in Trenton.
When the merger is complete, the combined system under the Cooper name will be a $2 billion revenue entity, and the fourth-largest health system in New Jersey.
“This agreement will bring together health care providers from across south and central New Jersey, allowing us to dramatically expand access to the high quality of care for thousands of new patients,” said Cooper board Chairman George Norcross III.
Adrienne Kirby, CEO and President of Cooper, said, “We are excited about the opportunity to welcome our colleagues from Lourdes and St. Francis to the Cooper team.”
