The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has approved spending up to $3.7 million over the next two years for maintenance and upgrades at Boardwalk Hall and the Convention Center.
During the meeting Tuesday, the board approved several contracts for as needed HVAC work, plumbing, painting, concrete and structural engineering services at the two properties.
“We are making an effort to bring Boardwalk Hall and the Convention Center up to date,” said Robert E. Mulcahy, chairman of the authority’s board of directors.
Both properties are operated by Spectra by Comcast Spectacor.
In February, the board approved spending $2 million to upgrade four sets of out-of-service bathrooms at Boardwalk Hall.
The project, which is part of the 2016 capital budget, will include the renovation of eight bathrooms on the first and second floors of the nearly 90-year-old facility. The bathrooms have not been used in some time, officials said.
