Foundations announce latest round of grants in region

The Salem Health and Wellness Foundation and the Community Foundation of New Jersey have announced $484,600 in grant funds were awarded to area organizations since August.

More than $1.68 million has been awarded for 2017 supporting nonprofits and the residents they serve.

“We are pleased to establish new partnerships as well as support ongoing partnerships with organizations in Salem County,” stated Brenda Goins, Executive Director of the Salem Health and Wellness Foundation. “There are many organizations throughout the county who are providing programs and services to our residents meeting their needs where they are.”

The most recent grants are: * $2,500 – Salem County Fire Academy: Hazmat training for first responders and others interested in the training. * $40,000 – Pennsville Township: Upgrades to facilitate health and safety education. * $2,500 – Salem County Vocational Technical High School: Startup costs for new Yoga program. * $70,000 – Salem County Sheriff’s Office: Support for Project Lifesaver, DARE and Community Service programs. * $53,700 – Pedricktown First Aid and Rescue Squad: Purchase of Stryker Loader System and XPS system for volunteer ambulance squad. * $71,000 – Family Health Initiatives: Continuation of our partnership working to reduce teen pregnancy and STD’s.
