Groundbreaking Held for Joint Health Sciences Center in Camden

Two major universities and one community college are joining forces to bring more opportunities to the area for students studying health sciences.

On Thursday, October 19th, Governor Chris Christie, Congressman Donald Norcross, and several other state and local officials joined with representatives from the Rowan University and Rutgers-Camden Board of Governors for a groundbreaking ceremony of the new Joint Health Sciences Center in Camden.

Officials say the new center will bring together Camden County College, Rowan University, and Rutgers-Camden to help grow student talent and ultimately improve opportunities for everyone in the community.

Two-thirds of the state-of-the-art Joint Health Sciences Center will be used by Rutgers-Camden, Rowan, and the joint board to house research, multi-purpose rooms, and offices focused on biomedical research. The remaining space will be used by Camden County College and Cooper Medical School at Rowan for health education and training programs, research labs, and simulation facilities.
