Inspira Health Network is announcing Thursday afternoon a new program that will pay off a yet-undetermined portion of student loans incurred by medical students if they commit to working in Vineland for four years.
Inspira CEO John D’Angelo told NJBIZ exclusively Thursday that the announcement is coming as the result of one of Inspira’s very own senior physicians.
The 86-year-old physician has offered the health system $1 million to attract “the very best physicians (to work in) Vineland,” D’Angelo said. “We are working with our tax people, because we would like to do this tax-free,” he said.
The idea is that by getting young doctors into the region, often the first hurdle for an area like Vineland, the doctors will settle and stay beyond the initial years.
