The four fountains that grace the Margate’s Parkway section received a makeover this fall so they will be ready to flow come spring.
The ornate fountains, which feature mermaids, fish and frogs, were installed in the 1920s or early 1930s as part of the Parkway section’s original design.
Some structural damage that had accrued over the years was repaired, and details were restored.
The work included wet sandblasting down to the profile to chip away any loose mortar. Then the fountains got a new coat of white paint, and the bottom of the pools were painted light blue.
