Moorestown grant renews hope for Lenola’s ‘rebirth’

The township has been awarded a nearly $1 million state grant for a streetscape overhaul of the Camden Avenue gateway into Moorestown from its Lenola business district.

The Department of Transportation approved $971,500 for a conceptual plan that proposes bike lanes, improved landscaping, new sidewalks and crosswalks, parking and improved lighting on Camden Avenue and parts of bisecting Lenola Road.

Officials said they will schedule a public hearing to gain input from residents and businesses before streetscape bidding specifications can be written and advertised for contracts.

The Lenola section is on the western border of Maple Shade and Moorestown. Its Camden Avenue corridor serves as a western gateway to Moorestown and becomes Main Street as it approaches the main downtown business district.
