N.J. produce company buys Progresso plant

A leading New Jersey-based fresh and frozen food supplier has purchased the closed General Mills Progresso Soup plant, with plans to open in the spring.

F&S Produce announced it finalized the purchase of the 585,000-square-foot plant earlier this week. F&S Produce will retrofit the former General Mills-owned plant into a production facility for fresh-cut and packaged fruit and vegetables, according to a news release from the business.

In August, F&S Produce was approved by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority to relocate and expand into Vineland and receive tax credits through the Grow NJ program.

F&S Produce was founded in 1981 and operates two production facilities in the Rosenhayn section of Deerfield Township, Cumberland County.
