Newcomers arriving in Cherry Hill marketplace

Call them the out-of-towners. Two merchants based far from South Jersey – fashion retailer Zara of Spain, and Texas-based home-décor chain At Home – are opening here soon.

Zara, which sells apparel and accessories for women, men and children, will debut Thursday at Cherry Hill Mall.

At Home will see its first customers Oct. 18 at a former Pathmark supermarket on Church Road, across from the mall. It will hold a grand opening Oct. 28.

The newcomers are part of a wave of migrant merchants targeting local shoppers.

Zara’s will occupy 26,000 square feet in the mall’s Macy’s wing, which expanded into a rear parking lot to accommodate the new arrival.

At Home, with 140 no-frills superstores, is in the midst of an expansion effort “with the potential to increase store count to nearly five times our current footprint,” the spokesperson said.
