Sharrott Winery breaks ground on expanded tasting room

This past week, surrounded by local dignitaries along with family and friends of Sharrott Winery, the Sharrott’s broke ground on an expansion that will take their winery and tasting room from 2,200 square feet to 7,300 square feet.

The winery’s 2007 inaugural bottling was 9,600 bottles. In 2017, it will produce over 100,000 bottles. Their tanks are bursting at the seams with wine. The limited space in both the winery and the tasting room causes problems, but ultimately it’s a sign of something good.

The expanded tasting room will allow events to continue through the winter with space for 60 people to taste and an additional 90 seats in the new wine bar. Outside, another 90 seats will be on a covered, heated patio that will make three-season outdoor events possible.
