Tropicana buys Chelsea Hotel in expansion that includes skyway bridge

Atlantic City’s Tropicana casino has acquired the nearby Chelsea Hotel with plans to integrate the 330-room hotel with its casino through a bridge walkway.

Tropicana Entertainment acquired the 330-room hotel from billionaire investor Carl Icahn, according to a statement from the company. Icahn bought the hotel in May.

The new Chelsea Tower at Tropicana is expected to open in August 2017, the statement said.

The hotel will bring the Tropicana’s room total to 2,730 and will link together through a skyway bridge. There are also plans for food and beverage offerings, spa and meeting space, according to Tropicana Entertainment.
