Wawa plans store at Brooklawn diner site

The Wawa chain wants to build a superstore at the site of a landmark diner in Brooklawn.

Wawa has proposed demolishing the Metro Diner at Route 130 and West Browning Lane to make way for a 5,600-square-foot store with a fueling station.

The project would rise just two-tenths of a mile from an older, smaller Wawa on Browning near Kings Highway in Bellmawr. The proposal is to go before Brooklawn’s planning board at its June 14 meeting.

Wawa currently is building a new store on Route 130 in Cinnaminson, where it also plans to replace an existing outlet on Church Road with a superstore.

Wawa is to bring proposals this month before local officials in Westampton and Bordentown Township. It also plans stores in Cherry Hill and Maple Shade.
