Folsom still benefits in S.J. Gas move to A.C., CEO says

South Jersey Industries believes a state-of-the-art headquarters overlooking the ocean in Atlantic City, with access to nearby hotels and entertainment, will help attract the best workers to its South Jersey Gas subsidiary.

But SJI will keep its own headquarters here, and the company will renovate the 45-year-old building with many of the same amenities as in Atlantic City, SJI President and CEO Michael Renna said in a wide-ranging interview this week.

The company also looked at buying or leasing existing office space in the Marlton section of Evesham Township, Burlington County, he said. It’s another place with ample hotels for business visitors.

The company applied for and received $12 million in state tax credits from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority to offset the $50 million cost of the new South Jersey Gas building, part of the $203 million Atlantic City Gateway project being developed by the Atlantic City Development Corp. (AC Devco) that includes a Stockton University campus.
