Meet the Legislators of the 1st & 2nd District

Hosted by the Southern New Jersey Development Council’s Government Affairs Committee, a crowd of business, education, and labor leaders gathered in Careme’s Restuarant at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing to learn more about the policy priorities of the District 1 & 2 Legislators.

Marlene Asselta, President of the SNJDC, welcomed the attendees and recognized the event sponsors and elected officials in attendance before turning things over to Dr. Barbara Gaba, President of Atlantic Cape Community College who welcomed attendees to the Mays Landing campus and its student run restaurant Carême’s. Roy Leitstein, CEO of Legacy Treatment Services, the event’s Title Sponsor, served as program moderator and introduced each of the Legislators from Districts 1 & 2.

The panel of speakers included Assemblywoman Claire Swift, Assemblyman Don Guardian, and Senator Vince Polistina from the 2nd district, and Assemblyman Erik Simonsen, Assemblyman Antwan McClellan, and Senator Michael Testa from the 1st district. The panelists  discussed the various policy measures working its way through the legislature, and offered their position on a variety of topics including economic development and infrastructure, tourism, education and workforce development, and many other legislative priorities that impact the South Jersey region.

Marshall Spevak of Advocacy Management Group & Gina Sullivan, of ELEC 825, Co-Chairs of the Government Affairs Committee moderated an audience Q&A and closed out the event.
