Atlantic County Economic Alliance prepares for big projects in, around airport

If all goes well for companies working with the Atlantic County Economic Alliance, there will soon be hotels, youth sporting facilities and a bustling cargo operation in and around Atlantic City International Airport.

Industrial Realty Group is working on developing a pharmaceutical grade air cargo facility at ACY. The company entered into a ground lease with the South Jersey Transportation Authority in September.

Major Gen. Mark Loeben, chairman of the National Aerospace Research and Technology Park’s board of directors, said two initiatives that started this year could become central to the future of the nation’s aviation.

The mission of the ACEA is “to drive economic growth and cultivate economic diversity in Atlantic County,” according to its website. It is funded by the county and executes an economic development strategy and action plan developed in 2015 by AngelouEconomics, a nationally recognized independent consultant from Austin, Texas.
