Business Park ready to grow at Cape May Airport

The business park at Cape May Airport is finally taking off after years of effort by county and state officials.

The Delaware River and Bay Authority, which owns and operates the airport, said it is running out of space for business leases at the airport business park off Breakwater Road. It’s considering building new office and warehouse space for a growing list of tenants that includes tourism attractions, small start-ups, and mechanical and aviation industries.

U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo on Friday called drone testing at the airport one of the bright spots of the local economy last year. The airport is among the six national test sites chosen for drone research in 2014 by a coalition of universities, government agencies and industry. “We’re in the middle of reauthorizing the FAA’s bill for the next five years. There will be a strong (drone) component that we hope will further strengthen the New Jersey test site and give us better opportunities here in Cape May County,” LoBiondo said.
