Developer urges Beach Haven board to approve 102-room hotel

A hotel developer is trying to convince residents of Beach Haven that his plan to build the largest hotel on the south end of Long Beach Island will not negatively impact their neighborhoods.

The Beach Haven Hotel, with its 102 guest rooms and 400-seat restaurant, is currently the most controversial proposal on the island.

The more than 40-foot-tall structure, which would overlook Barnegat Bay from Second Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, is the latest plan by builder Christopher Vernon, the man behind Hotel LBI and the refurbishing project at the Holiday Inn in Stafford that added a family-friendly adventure park.
