The former ShopRite property at 215 N. Delsea Drive has sat empty for more than six years, unable to reinvent itself or attract a buyer.
That situation may be about to change, thanks to a North Jersey company that wants to convert the supermarket’s 75,000 square feet of indoor space into an indoor, self-storage facility.
Vineland City planning officials also love the idea of trading what one called “an eyesore” for a functioning business in the core of its downtown retail district.
Vineland Ventures LLC, potentially, would build another 75,000 of storage on site in a second phase. The property encompasses about 8.33 acres including the parking lot, where new construction would occur.
