Meet the Prime Contractors of the NJ Wind Port

More than 200 New Jersey businesses participated in the second Meet the Primes virtual series webinar hosted by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, wind port construction managers AECOM Tishman, and the Southern New Jersey Development Council on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022.

This second in a series webinar is designed to connect south Jersey business with opportunities at the NJ Wind Port in Salem County by highlighting the list of services and items identified by each Prime Contractor as being open and available.

Jermaine Pharmes, Director of Diversity & Business Development, NJEDA opened the webinar, providing welcome remarks and served as moderator introducing each speaker. Gareth Middleton, SVP, AECOM Tishman, the construction manager for the NJ Wind Port project, provided attendees with an overview of the construction timeline and AECOM Tishman’s XBE project goals designed to establish a new standard for inclusion of women-and minority-owned businesses in contracting.

The program featured 5-minute presentations from the awarded Prime contractors outlining their scope of work on the NJ Wind Port project and presented subcontracting opportunities to attendees. The lineup of speakers included:

  • Kevin Pirrett, Project Manager for the Ferreira/Pierson JV;
  • Scott Handel, Sr. Project Manager for HC Construtors
  • Max McPhee, Vice President of McPhee Electric
  • Douglas Maffei, Vice President, Mount Construction
  • Andrew Shawl, Director of Marine Operations for South State; and
  • Alberto Saavedra, Project Manager for Weeks Marine.

NJEDA’s Jermaine Pharmes outlined the process and available resources to assist NJ businesses in becoming certified as Minority, Women, Veteran, and Small Business enterprises, before welcoming all speakers to join in for an audience Q&A before closing out the meeting.
