Plan for 812-unit storage facility goes to Voorhees Planning Board on Wednesday

A plan for a proposed three-story, 812-unit self-storage facility on a vacant wooded lot on Centennial Boulevard goes before the Voorhees Planning Board on Wednesday evening.

Property owner Linwood C. Gerber, president of L&L Redi Mix Inc., which is next door to the site, and SAFStor Inc., of Daytona Beach, Florida, applied to construct the 102,350-square-foot building, which would be owned and operated by SAFStor, according to documentation submitted to the Planning Board. Units would range in size from five feet by five feet to 10 feet by 30 feet.

The 5.76-acre lot is next to Chelsea Place Apartments on Centennial Boulevard and the end opposite from Centennial abuts the backyards of residences on Downing Lane. The site plan indicates that the owner expects to leave existing vegetation to the rear of the site and the development would be more than 200 feet from the backyards.
