South Jersey Business Community hears from NJ DEP Commissioner Shawn LaTourette

More than 100 South Jersey business leaders participated in the first Public Policy Speaker Series of the year hosted by the Southern New Jersey Development Council’s Energy & Environment Committee featuring NJ Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn LaTourette. Attendees included professionals committed to the economic growth of the South Jersey region who were keen to learn more about upcoming projects and programs to support infrastructure growth and investment in our region.

Marlene Asselta, President of the SNJDC, welcomed the attendees and recognized the event sponsors and elected officials in attendance before turning things over to Abbey Barksdale, Director of Business Development for NJ American Water, and Title Sponsor of the event, who introduced the Commissioner.

Commissioner LaTourette’s remarks included an update on the DEP’s response strategy to climate change, including the cross section of responsible economic development and infrastructure resiliency, investments into clean energy and offshore wind development, Environmental Justice, and many other Department of Environmental Protection priorities that impact the South Jersey region. An audience Q&A closed out the event.
