Wiggins Park Marina to Shut Down for Renovations in July

A major renovation of the 35-year-old Wiggins Park Marina, which has 50 boat slips operated by Camden County on the Delaware River, is scheduled to begin in July and will shut down the facility on the city’s waterfront for nearly a year.

The marina’s footprint, a perfect circle, will not change, but the floating dock and existing slips will be replaced, said Anthony O’Toole, Assistant County Engineer.

County commissioners in December awarded the contract to South State Inc., a Bridgeton-based construction company that bid $5,218,240 to renovate the marina. A first round of bidding came in at more than $6 million, which was too high for what was budgeted, so the specifications were modified to get a lower bid, O’Toole said.
