Barnegat residents were introduced Saturday to a proposed real estate project that would create residential living space atop what was once a legally zoned mining operation.

“I love doing things differently, and this is a great challenge, and this site lends itself to a unique type of community,” said Chris Vernon, founder of Mercer Management and Development LLC, which will host the meeting.
