Camden packaging firm takes advantage of bigger space to expand

A packaging firm here is in the midst of a $6.5-million expansion project fueled in part by increased demand for COVID-19 related products.

Rondo-Pak LLC is adding two presses and other equipment to a Camden plant that was an empty building just a few years ago, an executive said.

Rondo-Pak noted demand for its specialized packaging “has been accelerated by a need for COVID-19 related products,” including vaccines, test kits and treatment medications.

The company moved to Camden from Pennsauken with help from a $34 million tax break approved by the state Economic Development Authority in 2015. The EDA at that time predicted the move would support 266 jobs — 40 fewer than the current number.
