Glassboro Board of Education to apply for $15M in NJDOE grants

The Glassboro school district’s Board of Education approved a resolution to apply for over $15 million in grants from the New Jersey Department of Education. According to district spokesperson Jody Rettig, the grants would go toward funding a number of different maintenance projects the board has planned.

Rettig said the district has been working for the past year to identify needs and concerns for the school district, including roof repairs, replacements and leaks. One item in the grant is “correction of water infiltration at the Glassboro Intermediate School perimeter and masonry walls.” If the total request of $15.138 million is awarded to the district by the Department of Education, the grants would cover about 47 percent of the funding needed for the projects, according to Rettig.
