Part of Jersey Shore’s legendary ‘ghost tracks’ to be removed in big project

A section of the legendary “ghost tracks” that occasionally emerge from the shifting sands of a Jersey Shore beach will be removed and put on display for visitors as part of a project to revitalize a wildlife reserve along Delaware Bay.

The century-old tracks along Sunset and Higbee beaches in Cape May County have become a popular attractions after emerging in 2014 due to a costal storm. They’ve been uncovered several times since and remain intact despite extensive corrosion.

The Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area closed last month closed for what officials anticipate as a two years, $37.5 million Pond Creek restoration project.
