Program aims to help Atlantic County residents ages 45 to 64 ‘Live Long, Live Strong’

Nutritionists, personal trainers and other self-help gurus typically command top dollar for their services, but as many as 200 Atlantic County residents will benefit from their expertise for free, thanks to a program launching later this month.

The first of its kind in the state, the “Live Long, Live Strong” wellness program aims to maximize the cognitive, financial, physical and nutritional health of 45- to 64-year-olds through 11 free weekly sessions at four or five as-yet undecided sites throughout Atlantic County with specialists selected by the Milton & Betty Katz Jewish Community Center.

JCC trainers will instruct yoga, Zumba and other classes, and organize group workouts outdoors. Although fitness dominates the schedule, time is set aside for other professionals to give general and individualized advice on managing debt, saving for college or retirement and improving diet, cognitive function and other aspects of health, program director Genia Chapman said.
